The Kunigamiya Travel Guide is one of the leading travel journals in America. The company was founded by a Nisei, a second-generation Japanese American, who was interned during World War II in a camp in Utah. But when the war was over, this Nisei, whose name was Taiki Kunigamiya, started making up for lost time. Forgetting all his memories of the isolated camp in which he and his family had been held for so long, he returned to his native San Francisco and immediately started putting together the beginnings of what was eventually going to be known as the Kunigamiya Travel Guide. He found very few takers for his publication in the years immediately following the war, but eventually the Kunigamiya Travel Guide caught on, and now it is the first choice of millions of travelers in the Western half of the United States.
